MINI BREAK AT THE LAKE DISTRICT | DAFFODIL HOTEL AND SPA | REVIEW

It's no secret that i am OBSESSED with the lake district. It is my favourite place and holds very special memories with my family and partner. So when i got invited to stay at The Daffodil Hotel & Spa i was SOOO excited. Now, i had seen it coming up in my searches a few times when i have been looking for a weekend away every now and then, but i have got to say i was put off by the bright blue walls. DON'T LET THE BLUE WALLS FOOL YOU.

After the devastating floods The Daffodil Hotel was ruined so they decided to do a refurb whilst fixing the damage and they have just opened their new spa so i couldn't wait to try it.

We (me and my boyfriend) arrived around 6pm in Grasmere and pulled up to the big building and was greeted by the amazing views. We went and checked in and was taking up to our room, with a few funny characters greeting us all the way up. They have beautiful and humorous art work all around the hotel with little characters painted onto the wall which just add character. Our room was BLOODY MASSIVE. We had a lake view suite which had a massive bed, a massive bath, a massive corner sofa and stunning views. All things i have weak spots for.

We had a walk around to go and take it all in and we were stunned. We turned to each other and said 'why have we never been here before?!'

Then it was time to eat in their AA rosette restaurant for a 3 course meal. It all sounded amazing but i went for the risotto for starters and then we shared a Tomahawk steak which was out of this worldddddddd. It was cooked to perfection and no fat. We ate it all because it was so nice we couldn't dare leave any or we would regret it. Then came dessert which i had the chocolate and raspberry torte and my partner had the chocolate fondant, need i say anything more?! It was the best meal i have ever had, and i have ate in some beautiful restaurants.
With a tummy full of goodness and polished off a few Bellini's we headed off to bed which was super comfy.

The next day i woke up in excitement to open the curtains and lay in bed with a cup of tea (they even provide you with flavoured tea such as rose lemonade tea) which is my happy place.
The views are simply amazing and you wont get better in the lakes because this is the only hotel situated on the lakeside.
BREAKFAST. My favourite meal of the day and the only time i can eat plates and plates full. Coffee, full english, croissants, nutella and pancakes. If you go for breakfast you need to sit near a window because the views are even better from the breakfast room!
Anyway time to get in a swimsuit (with a belly full) and head down to try this new spa. Sauna, steam room and a hydro pool, bliss.
If you book a treatment you get to relax in a seperate room with lounges and tea making facilities where you can simply put your feat up and read a magazine or head out onto the terrace with your robe and take in more stunning views.
I had the Body Elements massage and my partner had the Mediterranean Light massage. They put us in a couples room which was cute and they sit you down to have a consultation before they start to see if you have any aches and pains which i thought was very good so i could tell her where to focus on. My treatment was all about pressure points and using a hot stick to roll on your muscles which was bloody good. She was the only person able to get all my knots out. Normally they try and cant so just leave them but i could feel them easing out and she wasn't putting any more pressure on which normally they do. It was the best massage i have ever had from the start to finish as when we were finished she sat us up and had another chat about what i can do to help my areas whilst sipping on some flavoured water.

My boyfriends was the massage using hot candle wax which he was abit dubious about but he said it was his favourite too and he felt like a new man. All the way home he was talking about how good he smelt off the oils and how nothing in his body ached like it normally does.

I was very very sad to leave this place and feel like one night wasn't enough to do everything we wanted to do. I have been to Grasmere before but it would have been nice to have had a walk around as my partner hasn't been in that area before. On our way home we stopped off at Winderemere for some chips and some more views.

This hotel gets top marks and we are already planning our next trip for our anniversary in two weeks time.

Prices for a room starts from £130 and suites start from £200 which is good for the lake district.

  1. Oh Laura, what a lovely opportunity, this place looks and sounds perfect. :)
The Lakes have been/are close to my heart too. All my childhood school holidays spent there. It's something we're beginning to do with our toddler. :)
However it's somewhere I've never stayed somewhere at. As we had family in Penrith. I'd love to stay somewhere like this and relax with the views. :)

  8. Artwork is a representation of the society because they served both as functional and symbolic elements. While some may say that art is a display of their ethnic sophistication, for some it may be more of an individualistic expression. As a functional element, artwork is utilized for psychological and healing purposes, for social causes, and even as a mode of communication. Personally, they connect people to their roots or the broader human condition. Artwork also evokes curiosity, interest and provides an exuberant experience. Service apartments in Ghansoli
